AaLeiyah DeSimas
AaLeiyah DeSimas is a skilled D.E.I. practitioner who strives to develop inclusive and equitable learning environments within educational institutions for all community members. AaLeiyah splits her time between being in the classroom and as the first ever Equity and Inclusion Coordinator at Valley Montessori School. She oversaw the development and facilitation of staff workshops relating to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. She served as the change agent who lead the curriculum audit and expansion for students 18 months through 8th grade, facilitated the school’s first ever Martin Luther King Jr. Oratorical, and led the organization through the Assessment of Inclusivity and Multiculturalism developed by the National Association of Independent Schools.
AaLeiyah has completed a credential in Montessori Early Childhood Education and the AMS Anti-bias, Antiracist Certificate Program. She is currently finishing bachelor’s degree in early childhood development at California State University, East Bay.
AaLeiyah currently sits on the Board of Trustees of Tilton School and is a 2022 Emerging Leaders Fellow for the American Montessori Society. AaLeiyah spends her free moments outdoors with her two children and partner skiing, hiking, and playing soccer.
